Order to frame charges against Inu-Hanif on November 2

A significant date is approaching for Hasanul Haque Inu, the President of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD). A special court has set November 2nd to decide whether to officially press charges against him related to alleged crimes against humanity.

These accusations stem from killings that took place in Kushtia during the anti-discrimination movement.

The Legal Argument

Inu’s lawyer, senior Supreme Court attorney Mansurul Haque Chowdhury, appeared in court on Tuesday. He passionately argued for his client’s freedom, stating that none of the allegations against Inu are true.

The defense pointed out that Inu wasn’t an MP or a minister during the time of the alleged crimes (the July-August movement). His lawyer challenged the prosecution’s attempt to hold Inu responsible under the doctrine of ‘superior command responsibility’, asking the court to release him from the case.

Another Case on the Same Day

It’s going to be a busy day for the court, as November 2nd will also be the date for deciding on charges in a separate case against four other accused, including Mahbub ul Alam Hanif.

The three-member International Crimes Tribunal-2, led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, made this decision after separate hearings on Tuesday
